My Search For The Perfect Graduation Dress

Happy Monday, friends! It was quite the weekend around here. After 6 long years of sleepless nights, incredibly hard work, and some occasional tears, I’ve finally done it! I am officially Doctor Laura Holliday, Pharm.D. and WOW I still can’t believe it. Sometimes I never thought the day would come when I’d walk across the stage and hear them call me “Doctor”. (Especially those nights when I was staying up until 4 a.m. studying and there was more coffee than blood running through my veins.) This was a HUGE milestone and I obviously needed the perfect dress to accompany me!

I began my search at one of my favorite retailers, and thankfully it didn’t let me down! I chose this tweed ruffle-sleeve dress, and I love it for so many reasons. It’s sophisticated, versatile, and fun! It’s a classic shift silhouette, but the ruffle sleeves give it some flair. It hits just above the knee, making it appropriate for oh-so-many occasions. The dress is exclusively online, so I wasn’t able to try it on before ordering (yikes). BUT I went with my normal size and it fit like a charm! Typically I choose the petite length from this retailer (I’m 5’3″) so if you are my height or shorter, I definitely suggest ordering the petite length.

I paired the dress with my favorite pearl statement necklace and black pumps to bring out the black accents in the fabric, but you could easily wear it with nude heels and a simple pendant necklace or some fun earrings to switch things up. I try really hard to invest in pieces that I can create several different outfits from and get as much use out of as possible (and save some moolah).

This dress was perfect for graduation, but it would also be the perfect dress for work. My job next year requires me to dress up most days, so I’ve been adding to my professional wardrobe a little at a time. I cannot recommend this dress highly enough. It would be a great addition to anyone’s closet! If you have questions about sizing or you’re nervous about ordering without trying on, feel free to send me an email or message and I’ll be happy to help!

As always, thanks for reading. I appreciate you all supporting my little corner of the internet. Let me know if you’d be interested in more workwear posts in the future!

Cheers,

Laura

You’re too sweet! Thanks so much for your well wishes. I’ve already re-worn this dress to a few events and it’s been so fun to style different ways!
